Theories of Change

Time:

3:00pm Central Europe (5:00pm East Africa Time, 4:00pm Jerusalem, 2:00pm UK, 9:00am USA Eastern)

Meeting Theme:

Theories of change articulate the intended cause-and-effect pathways between activities (inputs and programs) and meaningful change (outcomes). Developing clear and evidence-based theories of change helps peacebuilders plan, implement, and evaluate activities and programs, enhancing their effectiveness, clear communication, and ultimately impact. Christian peacebuilders often balance both “internal” work within their own Christian communities of origin and “external” work to build bridges across divisions and hostilities in the wider community, so they often work with multiple theories of change – those for programs focused toward Christians, and others for programs that include and the wider community. In this conversation, CPN members will discuss the theories of change with which they are working in order to learn from one another about the approaches, priorities, and evidence-based impact of peacebuilders around the world.

Discussion questions:

  • What is most impactful to get Christians involved and meaningfully engaged in peacebuilding? What is your primary theory of change to help Christians become peacebuilders?

  • What is most transformative for our peacebuilding work in the wider community? What is the main theory of change from which you work in the wider community?
